The visitor of this Leipzig's downtown often is more than surprised of Leipzig's beauty. Within few years, the old renaissance and Art Nouveau*-constructions of the venerable trade fair-city were restored in all of her/its/their beauty. 
The main station, an epochales construction of the bourgeoisie of 1915 and Europe's biggest terminus station, turned again into a piece of jewelry, at which a promenade extends long with 130 businesses and boutiques: a Mecca for friends of the late-nightly shopcrawling. 
Short: whoever saw Leipzig before the change will hardly recognize the city. Of course, also tracks of Leipzig are GDR-in the time of present. In side streets something away from the city, to still see here and there, is, how badly the decay was.

Almost all sights of Leipzig leaves itself explore wonderfully on foot incidentally, not least, because relaxing lawns run through the city. The very good net of the public means of transportation offers itself to the excursion in the outside-districts.

Leipzig city center, the Leipzig old part of town:
Leipzig's acceleration-point is the extensive market place between Peter-street and the Grimmaischen street. Romantic cafes and bars, around the big market place in alleys and corners scatters, advertises about customers with coffee-scent.

Culturally interested is the new garment-house, in which the universally known Leipzig garment-house-orchestra gives concerts, furthermore the opera-house, suggested the Moritz-bastion as well as the Johann-Sebastian-brook-museum, the Egyptian and the nature-customer-museum.
However what would be all these sights without the pulsating multi-cultural life, that runs through the downtown day and night. In the summer, each alley changes to the cafe and beer garden. And on the 3,5 km long promenade-ring with lovingly created lawns of ring around the old part of town lets Leipzig resident and tourists dangle the souls.

In the south of Leipzig: 
The probably most imposing construction of the city, the Voelkerschlacht monument, lies in the district Probstheida. It became at the 18. Octobers 1913 to the 100. Anniversary of the Voelkerschlacht at Leipzig initiated and remained in content controversial. Indisputably, it offers a fantastic gaze from the outlook-platform in 90 m of height over Leipzig.

The Bavarian train station is the eldest terminus station of the world, he/it was taken from already 1844 in operation and served the track-link between Saxony and Bavaria. 
The old bookseller-quarter admittedly became almost completely destroyed in the World War II, however sonorous names like Reclam, island, or Baedekerstraße remind of the tradition. Here, one finds the trade fair-house Bugra, that was erected as "German book-sphere of activity-house" once.
One reaches one piece further to the botanical garden through the clinic-quarter, that since presents 1542 orchids, palms and other exotic plants.

In the north of Leipzig:
The Schiller-house in the district of Gohlis is a small timbering-farmhouse and is worth the joy as birthplace of the ode An. Here Schiller 1785 lived and worked on his/its factory Don Carlos.
Little can enjoy in the Gohliser Schließen one Saxony's culinary specialties or one of the chamber-musical performances listens, while one marvels at the amalgamation of the baroque architecture with the rococo.
